Research

Interventions

  • Evaluating the efficacy of natural and synthetic compounds on schistosomiasis endemicity levels and transmission (vector control).
  • Combination of Mass Drug Administration with Vector control in crater lakes.
  • Improved sanitation, mobilization, and health education.
  • Mitigating the impact of deforestation, which increases the prevalence and spread of schistosomiasis.

Prevalence of infection has either not changed, or changed a little even though control has been ongoing since 2003.
